Yo. Welcome to the 2009 Freshers’ website for Van Mildert College, if you’ve got in to Durham University and chosen Mildert at your college then this site is for you.

You can use this site to learn a bit more about the place you’ll be calling home for the next three or four years, you can find out what Mildert’s all about, what we’ve got lined up for Freshers’ week, checkout some friendly faces to look for when you get here, peruse the photos from last year, meet other students, find out what Durham has to offer and ask any questions you might have.

President’s Welcome

Firstly, on behalf of the college, I want to say a massive welcome to Mildert! It is a truly fantastic college, and I am immensely proud to have been part of it. The past three years have been the best of my life, and I hope that you too will have a wealth of amazing memories to take away with you.

Mildert is an incredibly friendly college with an unbelievable variety of activities you can get involved in, set up, or just enjoy! There is something for everyone.

One thing I love about Mildert is the drive of the students. In my three years here, I have seen the setting up of an annual Cabaret show and Musical, mixed lacrosse team, a circus at the college ball and even a society whose aim is to liven Mondays up by doing things like cramming as many people as possible into one room!

The college really does care about its students, and wants to make life here as enjoyable as possible for every single one of its members. If you are worried or nervous about coming here- don’t be! There is so much support for you here at Mildert, whether it be academic, financial or personal.

Have a great last few weeks of Summer, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
